How to Improve Health Status of Your Kids

Providing health care facilities is widely recognized as a basic child right in every society in the world. Child health condition has great effects on child academic performances, child survival in the future, and success.

Child Health Status

Several studies illustrate that poor health condition relates to poor academic performance.

So, the physical and mental health of a child is equally important for a child's adjustment in school and as well as in society.  The following are the top 5  tips that help to improve the child's physical and mental health in childhood.

1.Good Nutrition plan

Healthy food choices improve learning performance and wellbeing. It is recognized that nutrition deficiency in school life has negative effects on cognitive development in childhood. Healthy nutrition in early childhood relates to normal physical growth and the healthy brain development of a child.[1]

2. Control the Consumption of Alcohol, Drug Use, and Smoking

The smoking and use of alcohol strongly link with emotional disorders and lower productivity in childhood. (Brook et al, 1999). It is reported that “underage drinking of alcohol is associated with numerous adverse consequences, such as vomiting and coma, liver disease, involvement in road traffic accidents, depression, brain damage, dependency, low of educational performance, and risky sexual practices.”[2]

4. Create the Friendly Environment at Home

Family violence and home stressful environment have had negative effects on child development. The conflicts between family members can affect the child's mental health which can reduce the child's ability to learn and concentrate. It is a family responsibility to create a friendly and peaceful environment at home.

5. Overcome the Anxiety and Depression

Anxiety and depression have had negative effects on child health. The family must respect the social and emotional needs of the child. The anxiety link with the physical, psychological, and behavioral problems that strongly affect child learning ability.[3]

6. Save the Child from Infections and Diseases

The families try to save their children from infections and diseases. These infections such as malaria can reduce child learning performance. Chronic diseases and injury also decrease child academic performance (NCHS, 1989a, p. 112).  Parents must visit the doctor when their children feel some health problems.

In Conclusion: the poor health condition reduces the child's academic and social performance. It is parents' and school responsibility to provide the best health facilities for children to achieve high education stander at an early age. Improvement of child health is strongly associated with the improvement of child academic achievement and success.
